# Quickstart

> From adding an API key to publishing your first chatbot

Set up your first bot in this order.

  <Step title="Add an Anthropic API key">
    In the dashboard, open Settings → API keys and add your Claude API key. See [Add a Claude API key](/en/getting-started/api-key).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create a chatbot">
    Open Chatbots → Create chatbot and enter a name and a public HTTPS source URL. New bots are saved as drafts.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test the answers">
    Ask questions in the bot's settings screen and check the answers and citations. Also test questions the bot should not be able to answer. You can test an unsaved model, answer language, instructions, and source URLs, but you must save changes to apply them to the live bot.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Publish and embed">
    Register the target site's origin in Allowed sites → Allowed origins, enable Publish chatbot, and save. Copy the code from Embed on your site.
  </Step>
